Road Signs in New England

Here are some signs you won't see in the Midwest...

The roads here twist and turn so much that we see this sign often.

I have seen this sign in two different locations

This is my very favorite. It is such a quaint way of saying, "residential area."

Have you experienced their lovely "roundabouts" yet? Oh my goodness, I remember driving up in MA when I was still in my teens and on vacation, and having to negotiate those. We had "circles" in NJ but they were much bigger and easier to get around without crashing into anyone. :)

Nope. We don't have those types of signs in MI. You are learning all kinds of new things, aren't you!!

Turtle crossing...now that could produce some traffic jams waiting for those little dudes to finish crossing the road? So, why did the turtle cross the road??

So funny! "Thickly Settled" is my favorite too! I wasn't sure what that meant til you explained it. Just think, there is a person in a cubicle somewhere who thinks up the wording of those signs! I would love that job...I could really let my creative juices flow! Heehee. I'll start in Washington DC. Can I put you down as a reference? No...just come with me, we'll write signs together. :) Heeheehee.
