Saturday the weather was perfect and we decided to take the kids to the beach. Last year when we were here, we stayed in Plymouth. The kids remembered sandy beaches, so we decided to go there. It may seem odd that I say the kids remember the beaches, but that is because I never saw them. I was in the hospital having an emergency appendectomy. Yep--it was a memorable vacation to say the least.
This time as we drove into Plymouth, I was relieved to feel not a twinge of pain in my stomach.
Plymouth Harbor
Zoey puts her feet into the Atlantic ocean for the first time
Taylor found this little crab roaming around on the ocean floor
Taylor holds a starfish that Jillian found under a rock. It was still alive so we threw it back into the water.
Kate tried the ocean but preferred to play in the sand all day
Little sisters cover big brother with sand
The Sand and Seaweed Ogre awakes...
...and chases Dad for a sandy hug
Miss Molly lets herself be covered in sand...and struggles to get herself free
Jake began to have difficulty with his swimsuit and...
...experienced several wardrobe malfunctions
Plymouth Rock, where legend says the pilgrims stepped after leaving the Mayflower
Replica of the Mayflower
Hard to believe they could cram 130 people into the hold of this ship. It was soooo small and dark. I can't imagine the courage it took for those families to board the ship for their trans-Atlantic voyage. I am so glad they did it--or we wouldn't be here today. It was neat to read some journal entries from the passengers. They gave God all the credit for getting them to America safely.
