Posters, etc.

OK, guys, your comments have forced me to ask this question....

Well, forced may be a bit strong. hee.

I have been talking to another adoptive mom who also loves photography, and we have a dream. I need to ask ya'll if you think it is something that could work.

The dream is to create photos with Bible verses--or inspirational phrases-- (and possibly a calendar) and offer them for sale to do some fundraising for orphans. We would maybe choose one charity per month to send the proceeds to.

Another thought we had is to offer several photos to families who are trying to fund raise for an adoption. They could sell the photos to whomever they wanted and the proceeds would be sent to their adoption agency to pay expenses.

We would offer the photos in a variety of sizes--from small 5x7 to posters, depending on where people planned to use them in their homes. We could also do custom photos if families had a favorite verse they wanted on a photo.

I am just wondering if this would even work? Would it raise enough to even put a dent in anyone's financial burden? There are logistics to consider about printing and mailing, but the first step is trying to ascertain if there is enough interest in the project.

Opinions? Don't be afraid to be the voice of reason if you think it's not do-able. :)

I love the idea and I say go for it! What a worth while thing to do!! help the children, help the orphans and help the families that are trying to get the kids home- what a blessing to all!!

The logistics of it- I'm not good with that part but I sure hope it works out!!

I'd be buying it!!

I love this idea!! Not sure about how to make it all happen though. Maybe a massive blog campaign?? I'll for sure plug it on my blog!

Fantastic idea. I think you definitely need to pursue this opportunity. I know of 2 other adoptive mommies who are photographers. I'm guessing they might also be on board with this idea (in case you need additional contributers).

I really like this idea because I think it would give that other adoptive Mom something to do. You know, because she kind of sits around all day eating fiber bars and drinking coffee drinks, so perhaps a worthwhile distraction would be good for her! :)

Seriously, though, I've always loved the idea and think you guys could make a difference for families wanting to adopt but low on funds.

I tried one of these as a fundraiser for my FIRST mission trip, and sadly, I failed miserably. And here I thought I had done such an amazing job and pretty cheap too! LOL

I hope yours is TOTALLY successful! And if you need any...I'd be happy to offer up some...

I have a bunch.

Super idea - I'd love one with the Jeremiah 29:11 verse - "I know what I'm doing, says the Lord. I have it all planned out, plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for." Ben's US foster mom gave us a framed picture of him with that verse on it and I treasure it. We've claimed that as his special verse.

Karin,

I can sell stuff...I'm not working during this time of my life to be a Bum for Chirst...I'm seriously thinking of starting a non-profit...anyway, I don't really understand - I'd need a visual. So just throwing that idea out there.... :)
