Zoey is in surgery

Miss Zoey is in surgery and went bravely. She had a good morning and only a few tears. I had run downstairs to get something to eat and when I got back they had her in the stretcher out in the hall. She was crying and scared because Mommy wasn't there. Poor baby! She calmed down fairly quickly and it was smooth sailing after that.

We said good-bye to her little foot and took some photos of it. Mommy kissed it which Zoey thought was very funny.

Thank you so much for all your messages/comments and prayers. It is so encouraging. Zoey got a HUGE smile on her face when I told her that lots of people were praying for her.

Last night one of the nurses braided Zoey's hair in preparation for putting it under the surgical hat for today. She looked so cute!

Pretty girl!

Dr. D. came to check on her this morning and drew on her foot.

Sometimes your thumb is the best comfort available.

Mommy kisses Zoey's little foot good-bye {sniff, sniff}

Zoey was given a new pink bear this morning to take to surgery with Joy. She named it Karin. Awwww....

Daddy arrived just in time to see Zoey before she was wheeled into surgery. I love how her little arm is around him. They let me go with her into the operating room, hence the beautiful white jumpsuit.
Don't be jealous.

So now we are waiting for her and will get to be with her as soon as she is moved to recovery. Thank you so much for your prayers. They are definitely felt!

What a brave lil lady Zoey! I'm in tears thinking about how hard it must have been to say goodbye to that foot. GOD brought her to the right family to provide her with the BEST life possible and foster her energetic soul. She'll be up and running before you know it...

I needed a tissue alert at the top of this post. I just got done teaching a class at our University and took a peek at your blog while I was still in class. Lots of prayers and hugs to your sweet little girl.

Aww, We are praying for Sweet Zoey!

Just a little encouragement for mom... I JUST read an article in an Ohio State University Hospital Magizine about a 21 yr old girl who had a rare soft tissue cancer and had her lower leg amputated and she is a runner! She did not talk about what she lost but only what she can still do! Zoey will do GREAT!! Sheri

Oh my heart! Those pictures have me all choked up...especially the one of you kissing her little foot. Sniff, sniff, for sure.

And I love how she named her bear Karin. Another sniff, sniff.

Continuing to pray for you all and especially Zoey. What an adorable little girl and those braids are the bomb! I think Jeff might want you to bring that white jumpsuit home. tee hee

You all are such an inspiration as you not only bring home so many of the 'least of these' but then persevere through the surgeries and care that each one may needs.

Oh Karin, I didn't see the post previous to this one until now. Forgot that surgery was today. We will be praying for precious Zoey that everything goes well in surgery and that she doesn't have any trauma with the result. It looks like they really prepared her and you too for the whole ordeal. We will be praying for you too as I know this isn't easy for you. Love and Hugs!

Hmmm! sounds like Zoey and Joseph might be in the same boat. Joseph doesn't have a "little foot" but his burn scars have really damaged his feet.
We will be seeing Shriners in 2 weeks to discuss a game plan...I think they will be discussing amputation.
Will Zoey just get a prosthetic for that foot?
Hope by this time she is out of surgery and demanding much attention
