Our Yankee Doodle Dandy

Yankee Doodle Dandy
by George M. Cohan
I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy
A Yankee Doodle, do or die
A real live nephew of my Uncle Sam
Born on the Fourth of July

We Skyped with our Yankee Doodle Dandy, Ryan, this morning. This time we used the webcam and could see each other and talk. Sooo awesome to see him. The kids all sang Happy Birthday to him. Then they completely froze up and wouldn't say a word. argh. It actually became funny to all of us.

So...although we weren't physically together today, we 'saw' each other and talked to each other.
All of us.

Yesterday we went to a friends' house for a cook-out and then to fireworks. The fireworks here are amazing! They went for a full 35 minutes and the grand finale was gorgeous.

Tonight, the teenager put on his annual extravaganza. We got eaten alive by mosquitoes, but it's all part of the experience. Right? Hopefully we covered Kate with enough bug spray so she didn't get bitten.
When does the show start?

"...and the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night, that our flag was still there..."

The teenager shows off his cache. We cracked up over how the angle of this shot makes him look like a giant.

"That's real nice, son, but this here is what I carry." (Yes, the infamous potato gun came out of retirement today)
