Good Friday

'Mom,' one of my kids asked me this week, 'Why do they call it Good Friday when it was the day that Jesus died on the cross?"

Good question.

It is Good Friday because it was the day that Jesus paid the price for our sins. The day that we could avail ourselves of the free gift He offers...salvation. God knew we would all sin. He knew that a price would have to be paid for that sin if He could welcome us to His sinless home in heaven. He loved so much that that He gave His most precious gift of all...His only son.

Think about that.

Would any of us give one of our children to save even one life? Would we give one of our children to save the lives of people who hate him/her? Who mock the sacrifice? Who distort the truth and say that the sacrifice was not made from a heart of love?

Who could come face to face with such love and turn away?

Come home. Run into His arms and say yes. He loves you. He longs to hold you, to be your safe haven, your rest. Let Him love you.

"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Matthew 11:28-29
